The 2nd edition of Observing Photon in Space – A Guide to Experimental Space Astronomy was published in 2013 and has proved to be very popular with over 80,000 downloads of individual chapters. The book was written by many of the leading experts in the field and includes information on the radiation processes which are important in the different physical domains and the techniques used for imaging, positioning, spectroscopy, and polarimetry concentrating on the detectors used for these. There are also chapters on calibration and general aspects of observing in space.
Almost ten years have passed since the 2nd edition appeared and with the many developments in space science and related technologies, it is time to refresh and update the 41 chapters in the book with the publication of a 3rd edition.
